**NOTE***
- For the 7 class aggregate w a limited 5 class – the maximum number of entries for this class is 4 entries per rider. This maximum can be any combination of 4 entries (i.e. 4 rides in 7 class with 0 limited 5 class teams or 3 entries in the 7 class and 1 entry in the limited 5 class or 2 & 2 or 1 & 3 or 0 entries in the 7 class and 4 entries in the limited 5 class)
- to enter either the Open Shootout or the 10 Shootout each rider on the team MUST be registered in either the 12 or 7 class.
- to enter either the Pro Speed Penning or Amateur Speed Penning the rider MUST be registered in the 12 or 7 class.
- to enter either of the Sorting Classes (9 or 6) each rider on the team MUST be registered in either the 12 or 7 class.
RULES
- There is a 60 second time limit for all classes including the Sorting and Speed Penning.
- Both the 12 and 7 class are guaranteed one go Thursday and one go Friday. The top 40 teams in the 12 Class and the top 60 teams in the 7 class will come back for a 2nd go each day. In the event that there are excessive or insufficient entries, the Classic committee reserves the right to adjust these numbers accordingly. This will be communicated at the time the order of go is posted. Top ten teams come back Saturday for a 5th go. Best aggregate wins. Day money will be paid on Thursday and Friday.
- The committee is still trying to determine an appropriate time slot for the 1st Go of the Open Shootout class so stay tuned as to the final schedule. It will either run first thing Friday morning or it will run last thing Friday evening if logistically feasible and fresh cattle can be provided to this class. It would also provide the best possible showing for the Northlands spectators. The second go of the Open Shootout would consist of the top 30 teams but would be run Saturday morning after the 10 Shootout. Again this schedule is tentative based on current entries and time allotment from Northlands.

It will either run first thing Thursday morning or it will run last thing Thursday evening if logistically feasible and fresh cattle can be provided to this class. It would also provide the best possible showing for the Northlands spectators. The second go of the 10 Shootout would consist of the top 40 teams but would be run starting at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Again this schedule is tentative based on current entries and time allotment fom Northlands.
- In the event that more teams are entered than the advertised allotted amount andno further time is available to run a greater number of teams in the class, a public random draw will be held. The tentative date for this has been set for September 7, 2011 with the place still to be determined.
- The format for the 2-man Sorting event will be, all teams will ride the 1st Go with the fastest 24 teams coming back for a 2nd Go. The top 10 aggregate fastest times will come back for a 3rd Go with the winners being declared on the aggregate of the 3 best runs. Teams must sort cattle in both runs to advance to the finals.
- Teams cancelled after October 7st will forfeit all entry, stall and parking fees where applicable.
- Entries not complying with the rules will be rejected.
- Each rider must have attended a minimum of three (3) CTCPA sanctioned shows in the 2011 season since January 1, 2011.
- Each rider must be a CTCPA member in good standing and use their CTCPA rating as of the opening of entries which is August 19, 2011 at 8 am.
- The Alberta Annual Classic is not responsible or liable for any medical, ambulance, veterinary or other costs incurred.
- Each rider must sign a liability release/waiver form which will be sent out with each invoice. The waiver must be signed and returned by October 5th.
- A declaration form must be submitted for each rider at the time of entries. Shows can be listed up to the August 26, 2011 entry deadline. These will be verified with each association secretary.
- All disputes will be dealt with by the Alberta Annual Classic Committee and their decision in all matters shall be final. CTCPA penning rules will be used.
- Parking passes are ONLY available directly from the Northlands Show office at your own expense.
- Northlands policy prohibits outside liquor from being brought onto the grounds.
- City of Edmonton bylaw prohibits smoking inside any public building.
Hi-Point Rider Saddles
- Riders will earn points in each of the 3 events (Penning, Sorting and Speed Penning). Points will be rewarded as follows:
- In the Team Penning, each rider will be awarded points for their best 3 finishes but points will ONLY be awarded to the top 10 teams in each class. Therefore, a rider who wins 3 different classes would earn a maximum of 30 points. The rider can earn all of their points from the same class or across all classes that they ride in.
- In the Team Sorting, each rider will be awarded points for their best 2 finishes but points will ONLY be awarded to the top 5 teams in each class.
- In the Speed Penning, each rider will be awarded points for their best finish but points will ONLY be awarded to the top 6 placings in each class.
- To qualify for the Hi-Point Rider Saddles, the rider MUST be registered in each of the 3 events. Should a rider enter less than 3 events they will not qualify for the Hi-Point Rider Saddle and forfeit all rights to this prize.
- Should a rider enter all 3 events and due to higher than expected entries be drawn out of an event (for example the Speed Penning), that rider will STILL qualify for the Hi-Point as their intent was to compete in all events.
ENTRIES
- ENTRIES ARE NOT FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. In the event that more teams are entered than the advertised allotted amount and no additional time is available to re-allocate class entries, there will be a public random draw. The tentative date of the random draw will be September 7, 2011 with the location still to be determined.
- Entries open August 19, 2011 at 8 am.
- Invoices will be sent to individual riders. All entries must be paid in full by Friday October 7, 2011. Post dated cheques past October 7, 2011 will not be accepted. There will be a $50.00 admin fee for returned cheques.
- Please ensure that your entries are correct, and that there are no duplicate entries. Duplicate entries for the 2011 show will be charged a $50.00 administration charge to either change or cancel the duplicate team. NO EXCEPTIONS
- In the event that entry fees are NOTpaid by October 7, 2011, the rider will be notified and the teams will be pulled from the show. NO EXCEPTIONS

Every rider is required to submit a declaration form which also identifies any stalling requirements. The stalling requirements are MANDATORY before you will be able to exit the declaration form.
STALLS
- Every effort will be made to place horses as requested. Unfortunately, we are not always able to accommodate every request.
- Stalls are in short supply. Therefore, we request a minimum of 4 riders in each tack stall. If you do not have 4 riders, we will assign other penners to share your tack stall.
- Inside stalls - $85 + GST - (includes 2 bags of shavings)
- Outside stalls - $50 + GST
- Tack stalls - $85 + GST
NOTE: All prices for stalls are for 3 nights (Wednesday November 2, Thursday November 3 and Friday November 4, 2011).
